Ethan Martin, 33 years of age, is a Graphic Designer and Artist, who also does photography for PACT Knipoog Media. In 2023 he got himself acquainted with PACT and is now volunteering as an Arts teacher in their Speel & Leer afternoon programme. He is clearly drawn to community development with a deep desire to make a difference in the life of at least one child and give hope to the future generation.
In 2024 Ethan, with the help of Elcado Blom, assisted Sally Arnold by involving a few children from his art class to do a botanical painting project during the 2024 Open Studio from 14 – 16 June. He later assisted Cilla Davis and Adele Carte with their arts project involving another of his group of child artists on 17 & 18 September 2024. He Exhibited his own artworks as well as some artworks of his grandfather Hekkie Moos, from Hekkie’s home, at the January 2025 Open Studios.
Ethan says his art style is influenced by his grandfather, but focuses on the youth and his aspirations for his community with art pieces hanging at the Prince Albert Art Gallery titled “Embrace” which is a portrayal of how he grew as an artist and in life, through embracing who he is, where he came from and where he is going. His art is based on the human spirit as well as human emotions put into the physical. You can also find five artworks done in powder pastel of a band titled “The Drummer”, “Strings Do the Talking”, “Sweet Song”, “I’ve Got the Keys” and “Double Bass”. He finds that the use of powder pastel gives him the the freedom to express himself more accurate with colour.
Ethan will be in collaboration with Andy Mason at Andy’s new studio in Hope Street at the June Open Studios 2025.
