John O’Sullivan

Was born in Cape Town in 1948 and educated in Kimberley. He attended the Michaelis School of Fine Art – where he graduated in Graphic Design 1967-1969. John then went onto study sculpture with Maureen Langley at Ruth Prowse Art School 1988

After a lifetime career in Advertising he settled in Prince Albert in 2017. His exhibitions include: a solo at the Petite Gallery in Long Street Cape Town in 1974 and another one in 1975 at Cavendish Square marking the Cape Town Centenary Festival.

John has subsequently participated in various exhibitions over the years working in Watercolours Oils and Acrylics .

In addition to painting he has a passionate interest in sailing craft, both coastal and the islands from Zanzibar to Polynesia, Indonesia and India. The models he creates are from objects found and reflect the origins of ancient craft developed around the world throughout the centuries. These models will also be on display during the course of the Open Studios
