Di has many years’ experience as a successful goldsmith/jewellery designer. After qualifying at Stellenbosch University with a B.A. Creative Arts [Jewellery Design] and a Diploma F.G.A.[ Fellowship of the Gemmological Assoc. of Great Britain], Di won the Post Graduate Maggie Loubser Scholarship and studied in Pforzheim,West Germany and spent a term at Sir John Cass Art School, London.
Di’s 1-day jewellery workshop for 2 people, will offer you a hands-on experience in designing and producing a piece of jewellery. You will be tutored in the various processes of measuring, rolling, sizing, sawing, filing, soldering, sanding. There will be a demonstration of smelting and polishing.
You will take away with you a solid understanding of the process of designing and making a basic ring or bangle [all negotiable, based on your own preferences].
The workshop fee excludes the price of the gold or silver used. Students may bring “old” gold or silver [sort through your broken bits and pieces which we can melt and remodel into your own designs].
If gold or silver is needed, the price will be dependent on gold and silver price per gram at the time of the workshop.
All equipment will be provided. Please bring reading spectacles and wear old clothes, preferably long/short pants.
Also indicate whether you are a beginner or have some experience.

An introduction to sourdough is a workshop on how to make & maintain a sourdough mother, to make & shape your dough, and useful tips to bake the perfect loaf.
You’ll be introduced to the basics of sourdough baking and learn how to make a sourdough starter or ‘mother’– and keep her alive. We’ll teach you the techniques we use in the bakery to knead, ferment, shape & bake our loaves. Every participant will get a sourdough mother to take home to become a sourdough baker right away!

Guided by our resident ecologist Sue Milton-Dean, who has extensive knowledge of Karoo natural history, veld management and restoration. The two-hour walk is an eye-opening experience, ideal for anyone curious and keen to discover the less obvious and fascinating lives of plants, animals and the people who walked the Karoo landscapes before us.
The walk is about 2 km and takes place on a fairly flat, desert landscape, and is suitable for all ages. Time 2 to 2.5 hours
