Anika van Aswegen

Anika van Aswegen is a warm glass artist, who believes glass comes alive in light. She experiences working with glass as a meditative process – cutting, washing, measuring and moulding – as ways of feeling, doing and being. Unexpected magic happens in the firing, from fine membranes, to fused layers and sculptural pieces. Some of her works reflect her feeling of oneness with nature, and others are in dialogue with the small, seemingly insignificant wonders of the veld. She hopes the tactile nature of her glass is a subtle reminder of the delicate symbiosis of the natural world.
