Ian Goosen

Ian Goosen is a Garden Route based artist who works primarily with driftwood, transforming weathered fragments of the coastline into finely crafted figurines and sculptural forms. Rooted in the natural rhythms of the sea, his practice draws on the textures, shapes and histories embedded in each piece of wood, allowing the material itself to guide the final work. Like many artists in the region, whose creativity is deeply shaped by the ocean landscapes, Goosen’s work reflects a quiet attentiveness to place – giving new life to what has been carried ashore and worn by time.
